He's looking to see if you understand. Understanding, in the Hebrew sense, means something deeper than knowing facts about God — it's the kind of knowing that reshapes how you actually live. The quietly hopeful thing about this verse is that sitting with it right now, wrestling with what it means, might itself be a small answer to what God is out there searching for.
