And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
This comes from a letter Jeremiah sent to Jewish exiles in Babylon. They were 900 miles from home, surrounded by foreign gods and customs. God isn't promising they'll find Him by accident — He's saying when you pursue Him with everything you've got, you'll actually encounter Him. It's about wholehearted seeking, not casual interest.
God, I admit I sometimes seek You like I'm window shopping — interested but not committed. I want to seek You like my life depends on it, because it does. Help me stop holding back parts of my heart from You. I'll risk the changes if You'll give me Yourself. Amen.
There's a difference between looking for God and looking up God. One is like scrolling through your ex's Instagram — curious but detached. The other is like searching for your lost child in a crowded mall — frantic, single-minded, refusing to give up. God's not hiding in the bushes playing spiritual hide-and-seek. He's saying you'll actually find Him when seeking Him becomes the main thing, not another thing. But here's the kicker: half-hearted seeking usually produces a half-hearted God. The version of God you find when you're just checking boxes tends to be equally disappointing. What would it look like to seek God with all your heart this week? Not all your spare time, not all your religious energy — all your heart. The scary part is that when you actually do this, He might ask you to change something you're not ready to lose. But the finding? It's always worth the seeking.
