The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
This verse comes from God through the prophet Jeremiah, speaking to Israel during their darkest days of exile. "Everlasting love" means love without expiration date, love that outlasts human failures and divine discipline. "Loving-kindness" (Hebrew: hesed) combines love with loyalty and commitment. This wasn't a new revelation — God says He appeared this way "in the past" — but a reminder of His consistent character despite Israel's unfaithfulness.
Everlasting God, my mind can't grasp love without limits, but my heart desperately needs it. Thank You for loving me before I knew You, and for continuing to love me when I forget You. Draw me close again with Your patient kindness. Amen.
You know that friend who texts after three years like no time passed? Or the grandparent who still calls you by the nickname from diapers? God's love works like that, multiplied by infinity. He doesn't love the version of you that got it together last month. He loves the messy, dramatic, running-away version that broke His heart repeatedly — and He's loved you that way since before your grandparents' grandparents were born. This isn't just comforting; it's revolutionary. You can't shock God into stopping His love for you. Your worst day, biggest failure, most shameful thought — none of it surprises Him or makes Him reconsider. He's been drawing you with gentle kindness longer than you've been aware. What would change if you stopped trying to earn that love and just let yourself be drawn?
